3Tre in Madonna di Campiglio (Trentino – Dolomiti di Brenta) is the most historical alpine ski Classic in Italy, having celebrated its first edition back in 1949. The name of the event comes from its previous formula (Three - 3 - races in Trentino): originally featuring a downhill, a Giant Slalom and a Slalom, from 1985 3Tre hosts only the Slalom on the iconic and very technically demanding Canalone Miramonti slope.
In 3Tre memory book, it is possible to read the story of the Italian and international ski’s evolution. The gold book of the event features the best alpine skiing champions of all time; it starts from Zeno Colò (winner of the first edition in 1950) and ends (provisionally, of course) with Austrian phenom Marcel Hirscher, winner in 2012. Between these two names, there is a sequence of extraordinary athletes, from Ermanno Nogler to Guido Ghedina, from Christian Pravda to Toni Sailer, from Toni Mark to Bruno Alberti, from Karl Schranz to Carlo Senoner, Guy Perillat, Gustav Thoeni, Bernhard Russi, Piero Gros, Ingemar Stenmark (whose first of 86 World Cup win came right in Madonna di Campiglio 40 years ago, on December 17th, 1974), Franz Klammer, Phil Mahre, Pirmin Zurbriggen, Marc Girardelli, Andreas Wenzel, Alberto Tomba, Finn Christian Jagge, Jure Kosir, Mario Matt, Bode Miller, Giorgio Rocca, Ivica Kostelic. The most successful Italian skier in Campiglio is Gustav Thoeni with five victories; Alberto Tomba won three times on Miramonti slope, also getting four second places.
Nowadays, 3Tre is the only Men’s World Cup slalom event in Italy, and one of only two night events along with Schladming’s slalom.
The home of 3Tre is Madonna di Campiglio, one of the most famous and exclusive locations for Winter Sports in Italy, in the heart of the Dolomiti di Brenta – UNESCO World Natural Heritage. Favorite locations of many VIPs from all-over the World, the Pearl of the Dolomites is known for its ski slopes as well as for its glamour atmosphere, exclusivity, shops and haute cousine.
