170 athletes had entered for the World Ski Championships Giant Slalom on the men's side, so according to the rules, a qualification race had to be held in Duved in order to determine which 100 athletes are allowed to participate in the medal event tomorrow.

Sweden's Axel Lindqvist clocked the fastest time of the qualification race, using the home race advantage. The 18 year old athlete, who's the junior national champion of Sweden in slalom, hasn't participated in a single World Cup or European Cup so far and will enjoy the biggest stage in his career to date.

Lehto Elian from Finland and Matej Falat from Slovakia rounded out the podium of the day.
