Ester Ledecka (CZE) is back on the top step of the podium even though it is almost laughable to say, it is the first time she has stood on the podium in a World Cup Super-G race. Her first victory in alpine skiing was during the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang when she stunned the world by winning the gold medal. Ester is no longer a surprise in alpine skiing, and year after year she is one of the favorites in the fast disciplines even if she is still competing in both disciplines.

The first Super G race of the season is therefore under the name of Ester Ledecka who finished 3 hundredths ahead of defending Super G globe winner Corinne Suter (SUI).

The Swiss raced to three podiums in three days with a downhill win on Friday as she continued to demonstrate her consistency in the speed events.

Defending Overall Champion Federica Brignone (ITA) came 0.35 behind in third, a day after sitting out the downhill following her crash in Friday’s race.

The Italian team had a very good sign from Marta Bassino (ITA), very close to the podium in fourth position, and a slightly more negative sign from Sofia Goggia (ITA) who, with a few mistakes, finished seventh behind Petra Vlhova (SVK) in the sixth position.

The women will be back in action at the technical races in Semmering, 28th and 29th December.
