Kilde wins back-to-back races in Beaver Creek

What a ride it has been for Norwegian skier, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde so far in Beaver Creek. Putting in a stellar performance today, Kilde won the race 0.66 seconds ahead of Austrian, Matthias Mayer. It was Kilde’s second career back-to-back victories after winning a back-to-back in Val Gardena (2020/2021).

Mayer, who won the opening downhill race this season in Lake Louise (CAN), finished off the podium in the second super G. Nonetheless, he pushed hard and held onto second place ahead of Swiss skier and 2021 downhill World Cup winner Beat Feuz (SUI).

There are only 60 points splitting Feuz and current downhill World Cup leader Matthias Mayer, and nine points between Feuz and Kilde, so tomorrow’s race could be opportunity to take the lead before heading into the next downhill event taking place in Val Gardena (ITA) on 18th December.

The fight for places four to eight was extremely tight with only 0.08 seconds separating the four skiers. Matteo Marsaglia (ITA) managed to hold onto fourth place, Dominik Paris (ITA) in fifth, Ryan Cochran-Siegle (USA) in sixth and Niels Hintermann (SUI) in seventh.

Racing is scheduled to continue at 12:00 local time and 20:00 CET with the last downhill race in Beaver Creek.
