Ochner und Fischnaller repeat last year's win in Winterberg | Riegler and Prommegger snatch Parallel Team World Cup title

The Alpine Snowboard World Cup season wrapped up today with this season's third and last Parallel Team event staged on the Poppenberg slope in Winterberg, Germany.
In a close duel for the win, Nadya Ochner and Roland Fischnaller from Italy were able to repeat their last year's triumph ahead of Claudia Riegler and Andreas Prommegger who therefore snatched the World Cup title.
„It's been a mega weekend. I really like the slope. Like I said yesterday, my slalom form is incredible right now, and today, I was able to prove that again. Thanks to a strong partner I can be happy once again“, said Fischnaller who had prevailed in yesterday's single PSL already.
By crossing the finish line in first today, the South Tyrolean pairing also climbed up to the overall third in the Team World Cup ranking which saw an interesting duel for the crystal globe as so far leading Sabine Schoeffmann competed although being still injured.
The Carinthian tried to keep the title chance alive by pulling out of the start gate and immediately stopping to race any further.
Earning 290 points for finishing ninth together with her boy friend, Schoeffmann and Payer put some pressure on their older teammates who were able to benefit form their experience securing the top four finish they needed to claim the title.
„Due to my injury, I couldn't race today but we wanted to secure a good spot in the rankings. At least, Alex was able to earn his first top-3 World Cup ranking finish“, said Schoeffmann.
By finishing off today's Team PSL race as second her countrywoman Riegler therefore finally brought home her career's first ever World Cup title at the age of 44.
“This is amazing. It's so cool to race together with Andi. If I do a mistake, he just makes it forgotten. We can fully rely on each other. And today, everything worked out fine again. I'm really, really happy about the crystal globe,” she stated, knowing that her teammate Prommegger had been going through a lot of pain to wrap up the season the best possible way.
“Three weeks ago, I didn't really know if I would be able to start here at all. Close prior to the Olympics I suffered from a disc prolapse while I already had a hernia inguinalis. That's why I skipped the races in Turkey and Switzerland. I had lost a lot of strength in my left leg and also had a numb feeling in my left shinbone,” explained Prommegger before adding: “But I wanted to race here with Claudia. I was able to once again give it all I have. Winning the title in a team doubles up the joy.”
