Beitostolen Norwegian National opener

Friday, 22nd November Sprint C
The final preparation for the Norwegian team took place in the resort of Beitostølen and started off with a sprint in Classic style.
Ane Appelkvist Stenseth successfully launched her race season and stood on top of the sprint podium, followed by Maiken Caspersen Falla (+1.2'') and Sophie Caldwell from the USA with a (+2.4''). Caldwell fought hard for the first podium spot on this first race weekend sucessing just before Slovenian Anamarija Lampic.
A fantastic start into the new season was also shown by Erik Valnes from the Norwegian Elite Sprint team by beating his team colleague Pål Aune by just +0.4' and a very strong Lucas Chanavat from France.

Saturday, 23rd November 10/15km C
The long distance experts from the Norwegian team reported back in top shape. Therese Johaug and Heidi Weng race to the 1st and 2nd rank, closely followed by youngster Helene Marie Fossesholm who showed a strong performance, proving that the Norwegian sport future is brighter than ever!
Rank 4 and 5 was taken by team USA's athletes Jessica Diggins and Sadie Maubet Bjornsen who had travelled to European ground just a week before.
The men's 15km ended with a clear win of Didrik Toenseth +18.9 seconds before last season's Overall World Cup winner Johannes Høsflot Klæbo and Simen Hegstad Kruger on the third spot.

Sunday, 24th November 10/15km F
There were expected winners on Sunday's freestyle race in the Norwegian Beitostölen. Simen Hegstad Krüger won the men's 15 kilometers 3.7 seconds ahead of Martin Löwström Nyenget. Therese Johaug won the women's 10 kilometers by 31.3 seconds ahead of Heidi Weng.
It was close in the men's class with ten riders within 26 seconds. Like three seconds after the second Löwström Nyenget followed five-time world champion Hans Christer Holund, who took revenge after a not so good race on the previous day.

Sunday's 15km marked a very special race day for the current 15km C World Champion Martin Johnsrud Sundby as he announced just before the start that he will become a father for the third time - our dearest congratulations!
