Early Cross-Country bird - where to ski pre-season

Did you know that some glaciers around Europe offer Cross-Country tracks to train on? Some early sessions on snow, snow farms or snow tunnels will get you tuned for the upcoming winter season. We've put together an overview of the training locations of our FIS Cross-Country top-stars:

Vuokatti, Finland

Every year on the 10th October, the snow tracks of Vuokatti open at 10am. The addition to the ski tunnel which is open 365 days a year make the Finnish resort to one of the hotspots for early days on snow.

Sjusjøn, Norway

At the end of October, the Norwegians Worldclass destination for Cross-Country skiing will open a course at the Natrudstilen stadium which will be groomed in Freestyle technique. More information here.

Bruksvallarna, Sweden

Bruksvallarna is one of Sweden's most snow secure resorts overall and openend 6km skiing tracks on 13th October already. Check out the pre-season offers here.      

Livigno, Italy

On 19th October, the Italian resort of Livigno set a 3.5 km course for all early Cross-Country birds. The winter season will officially begin with Italian national team skiers Federico Pellegrino, Dietmar Noeckler and Francesco De Fabiani. Learn more about the snow farm loop here.

Davos, Switzerland

Along the home stretch of the famous Davos Nordic World Cup venue, the snow farm in the Flüela valley will open on Saturday, 26th October. Find out all information about the course here.

Lenzerheide, Switzerland

From 2nd November, the host of this years Tour de Ski opener, Lenzerheide will open their Novembertracks for you. Find all information about the course opening here.

Frozen Thunder, Canada

2019 marks the 10th anniversary of the Frozen Thunder ski track in Canmore, AB. The Frozen Thunder track provides nordic skiers with 4 weeks of early season skiing. Find all information about the tracks here.

Forêt Montmorency, Canada

On 26th October, Forêt Montmorency opened their tracks for the seventh year in a row. Learn more about th tarcks for North American early birds here.

Tyumen, Russia

Tyumen in Siberia opened on 10th October a 5.0 km course. Too keep the course cold a cooling system is installed in the ground.
