Cramer to coach Pellegrino and de Fabiani with RUS Team
Apr 21, 2021·Cross-CountryIn a joint press release, the Italian Ski Federation and the Russian Ski Federation have announced a collaboration in preparation for the upcoming Olympic season. As of now, the FIS Cross-Country Sprint World Cup winner from Italy, Federico Pellegrino and his team colleague Francesco de Fabiani will join the training squad of Marcus Cramer. Cramer, who is working with the Russian team will act as an external coach for the duo and include them in his training group which consists of Sergey Usitugov, Gleb Retivykh, Artem Maltsev and Evgeniy Belov on the mens side and strong pace makers such as Yulia Stupak on the womens side.
The announcement states, that the preparation period will take place on European snow, starting in May with Pellegrino and De Fabiani regularly returning to their Italian team colleagues in between. The intention of the project is to experiment with new ways and intensities of work, and to exchange Italian and Russian technical knowledge to allow the growth of the Nordic sectors of both nations.
The Italian team additionally sees changes in the organization as the position of Head Coach of the Italian National team. After former head coach Marco Selle left FISI at the end of March, Alfred Stauder will take over the position as of now. Stauder was in the position of youth coach in the past season.
