With excited Sprints in Classic technique, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup season got underway. At light snowfall and -10° C, the international top athletes gathered again at Ruka Nordic (FIN) for the first competition of this very important Olympic season.

The Swedish Womens Sprint team enters the Olympic season exactly where they have left off by winning last seasons Team Cup- on top of the podium. For Maja Dahlqvist, the season start could not have been any better. With her team colleagues Johanna Hagström and Frida Karlsson by her side, Maja entered the Sprint Finals along Norwegian Maiken Caspersen Falla and the Finnish duo Johanna Matintalo and Katri Lylynpera.

Dahlqvist was in control of the final heat and sprinted to her second World Cup victory before Johanna Hagström and Maiken Caspersen Falla. With her victory, Maja Dahlqvist naturally takes the lead in the Overall World Cup ranking.

“It's a perfect start to the season. I'm in very good shape and the skis were very good too. I was really looking forward to the climb - it was never like this before!"Maja Dahlqvist
