Swedish Freeski Team announces its 2019/20 roster

After a successful winter campaign the Swedish Freeski Team has announced its roster for the upcoming 2019/20 season. This past season’s highlights include Henrik Harlaut’s big air silver medal at the Utah 2019 World Championships in Park City (USA), as well as Oliwer Magnusson’s slopestyle Junior World Championships gold medal last fall at Cardrona (NZL).

In a championship-free season the Swedish Freeski Team athletes will be looking to further improve their skillsets as the team will pursue to remain one of the world’s top nations at the World Cup and other international competitions.

“The work to strengthen our team continues,” said the sport manager Stefan Karlson, “We are very pleased to announce that Pontus Nordstroem will be responsible for the development team, which will give the younger riders even more opportunities to fight for places in the A-Team.”

“We are in a position, where we have a good mix of older and experienced riders as well as young talents, who are eager to make the name for themselves” said the team captain Niklas Eriksson.”We have a hungry bunch to work with and it’s very inspiring to see how the younger riders pushes the older ones and vice versa. Hopefully we will also welcome Jennie-Lee Burmansson back to competing at the beginning of winter and this is something we’re all looking forward to”.

In the last three seasons, the Swedish Freeski Team has scored 21 World Cup podiums, including 8 victories from the likes of Henrik Harlaut, Emma Dahlstrom, Oscar Wester, Jesper Tjader, Hugo Burvall, Oliwer Magnusson and the 2017/18 slopestyle World Cup champion Jennie Lee-Burmansson. With Burmansson hopefully back on the circuit, the start-studded Swedish Freeski Team has plenty of reasons to be optimistic for years to come.

“After a successful FIS Junior Ski World Championships in Klaeppen (SWE) and a season, where many of our young athletes proved themselves, it’s mostly our development team, where we find the names to keep an eye on,” said freshly appointed coach Pontus Nordstroem, “Wilma Johansson’s 4th place in slopestyle at the junior world championships and Melvin Moren’s 10th place at the same event show that there is a great potential. It will be very fun to contribute and work with the team in the upcoming seasons.
