The Freestyle Rundown - May 28, 2020

Hello and a lovely Thursday to you. It's looking like we'll be running the Rundown a little later in the week as we continue with our #ClassicsLive series, as the polls and the debut of the winning streams for those votes will continue to be on Wednesdays until the series is over in a few weeks.

With that in mind, why not vote for your favourite now, with either the star-studded Olympic test event from 2016 at Korea's Bokwang Phoenix Park where Tiril Sjaastad Christiansen (NOR) and Alex Bellemare (CAN) took the wins, or the first-ever slopestyle World Cup competition from 2012 in Jyarvaskayla (FIN), where Cyrill Hunziker (SUI) and Linn-Ida Murud (NOR) claimed the history-making victories.

With that out of the way, let's jump into some of that good-good content from the last week or so, beginning with moguls superwoman Perrine Laffont, who blessed the timeline with this classic spring-vibes, high-speed, single-track ripper of a bumps run over the weekend...

Il en faut peu pour être heureux 🥰 feels goooooooooood to be back 🤩

Not to be outdone, the gents of the French team got together for some party laps on the same track, making sure to maintain a social distancing-approved gap of at least three moguls between each skier on the way down...

Y’a encore de quoi claquer quelques turns 😜 📽 @day_of_defeat

With lockdown restrictions easing in many parts of the world we were suddenly hit with a whole pile of fresh on-snow content in the past week, with most of the best stuff coming out of Crans Montana where some of the Swiss team's heaviest hitters gathered for a private session in the CM Snowpark. Sunny skies + spring slush + perfect features usually equals progression, and for 2019/20 slopestyle crystal globe winner Sarah Hoefflin that was most certainly the case...

My first 6 outz. @cmsnowpark has been LEGIT 🙏🏻 @swissfreeski @monsterenergy @factionskis @loycosa @columbia_eu @pocsports @leysinpark @team_geneve @fonds_du_sport

Kim Gubser was there in Crans too, and the rising star of the Swiss squad was going absolutely off by the looks of things in this edit. Style for miiiiles...

Hot park up here🥵 @cmsnowpark 📹 @romainerard ——————- @lineskis @oneilleurope @smithoptics @levelgloves @schweizersporthilfe

And Mathilde Gremaud dropped by for a hot minute, stacking about a million rail clips in a quick two-days worth of shred work...

Feeling so lucky I got to ski for two days 🥰 Here's a little recap, I hope you enjoy it ! 🤘🏼 | Thank you @cmsnowpark and @swissfreeski swissfreeski for the opportunity | filmed by @romainerard | #givesyouwings #freeski #keepsyoubrave #rideforthefuture

However, not everybody on the Swiss team had time to get some laps in, as it seems that Andri Ragettli was busy going for a little 100km jog.

Make sure you check out that clip from the 75km mark...oooof...

Ran my first ULTRA marathon!🥵😈 100km in 10 hours!🔥💯One of the toughest things I have done in my life!🥵🤮 This was my challenge (goal) for this summer and I am so happy I achieved it!✅ 1️⃣ me posing after I finished 100km 2️⃣ me at 3 am (ready to kick ass) 3️⃣ me right after I finished my run 4️⃣ me at 75km (close to collapsing) 5️⃣ 100km in 10h #UltraMarathon #Running #100km #Tired #Summer #Switzerland #CantHurtMe #Challenge

Of course, there are some slightly more chill ways to enjoy the springtime sun than running an ultramarathon, as US ski crosser Tyler Wallasch showed us with a few shots from a nice day sending rooster tails out on the lake. However, judging from the size of those pythons, we'd have to guess he hasn't been skipping too many days in the home gym over the past few months...

Family time in the desert. 🙌🏼

Spain's Thib Magnin threw it back to last summer to remind us all that slopeSTYLE is a LIFEstyle, blessing the timeline with this really really ridiculously good-looking fashion flip at a spot we can only assume is called the Blue Steel Cliffs...

Mood lately😂 Clip from last summer.. #newtothistiktokthing #relax @giuliatanno

Getting the best of both worlds in this transition season was the Notorious ABM Alex Beaulieu-Marchand, who used pedal power on the way up to earn some choppy spring slashies on the way down last week, back home in Quebec...

Last week I biked up and skied down my home resort. It was a blast! Unfortunately the snow is gone now. @rockstarenergy @voelklskis @markerproducts @auclairsports

We're not sure if 2019/20 aerials crystal globe winner Noe Roth was cycling back to the top of the ramps in between jumps, but he was definitely able to combo up on the water + skiing thing from the Wallasch video and the flipping thing from the Magning clip with this near-perfect water ramp triple from yesterday...

Tried a Triple-in today🔥 • 🎥: @pirminwerner • #flips #twists #ski #freestyle #summer #water #aerials #first

Of course, nobody just straps on a pair of skis and drops into jump #5, and every future crystal globe winner has to start somewhere, so big shout-out to young Dutch ripper Floortje getting her feet wet with a little water ramp action. See ya on the World Cup in a few years, Floortje?

Wauw, onze jongste bikkels Owen en Floortje sprongen vandaag zelf van helemaal boven aan de schans!!! Kijk ze eens gaan 🤩. #freestyle #moguls #waterramp #summertraining

Just in case you thought we were joking with Floortje about the World Cup there, you should check out the latest blog entry from US moguls ripper Tess Johnson, who remembers entering her first event (slopestyle) around the age of nine and getting hooked on competition. Fast forward a few years and Johnson would become one of the youngest skiers ever named to the US Freestyle team at age 14. Follow your dreams, kiddos!

This is a shot from my first ever ski competition. I was so nervous I almost didn’t compete, but afterwards, I knew I wanted to be... a Slopestyle skier. Lol. ••• Click the link in my bio to read my blog about how I ended up in mogul skiing, my greatest passion.❤️

Speaking of moving up the ranks, shout out to Canadian halfpipe rider and noted purveyer of massive airs Dylan Marineau, who got promoted to the national team for next season...

Now that Covid-19 has started to calm down a bit, I'm incredibly excited to announce my move up to national team from next gen! Thanks @trennonpaynter @mcdonellmarc and @freestylecanadaski for the call up and I can't wait for what the future holds! 🙏🏻 📸:@simondartois . . . @csicalgary #SwixCanada @mountaincultures #mountaincultures @fischerski #swanygloves @LanctotSports @swixandfischercanada @swix_sport #SwixFreeride @swanygloves @smithoptics #smithoptics #TheExperienceIsEverything #SeeMoreDetail @andrewmc_ofc @smithoptics.snow #amplifyawesome #damagecontrol @pipejocks

It's been a while since we posted a workout video, but US aerials team member Madie Varmette incorporating a roll of TP into her routine during these trying times of pandemic was too good to pass by...

What do you workout with?! 🧻 • • • #quarantineworkout #tolietpaper #spacebuns #bombshell #core #arms

And now on a completely unrelated note, we present you with Crash Corner, featuring Alex Hall and an absolutely world-class tomahawk somewhere in the BC backcountry, proving that it truly does happen to the best of us...

Went according to plan.

And we'll finish things off this week with a post that can really onle be described as "MOOD."

Hang in there world. Skiing will return. #worldsnowday

Thanks for reading, everyone! Enjoy your weekend in the best way you can and we'll see you back here sometime next week!
