Cardrona 2023 Park & Pipe Junior World Championships four weeks away
Jul 28, 2023·Freeski Park & PipeIt may be the middle of summer in the northern hemisphere, but in the mountains south of the equator the winter season has kicked into high gear - including at New Zealand’s Cardrona Alpine Resort, where the 2023 FIS Park & Pipe Junior World Championships are set to take centre stage from 29 August to 8 September.
The 2023 Park & Pipe JWCs will be Cardrona’s third time hosting the best of the world’s 14-18 year old freeskiers and snowboarders after hugely successful turns in 2010 and 2018, and this years competitions will be the highest-level FIS action to hit New Zealand since our last World Cup visit in 2019.
Once again, the JWCs will take a starring role as part of the Winter Games NZ - the southern hemisphere’s largest winter sports event, and with some recently crowned Bakuriani 2023 World Championships very much still eligible for Junior Worlds competition and looking to get some competition reps in before the World Cup season kicks off at the Big Air Chur in October, expect to see some serious star power dropping in on competition in Cardrona.
With the likes of halfpipe World Champion Chaeun Lee (KOR), big air World Champion Taiga Hasegawa, and slopestyle World Champion Mia Brookes on hand in Cardrona, there’s some serious firepower on the preliminary start lists alongside some exciting up-and-comers across the snowboard and freeski entries, and we can’t wait to see what will go down in Cardrona in late August and early September.
Free live-streaming will be available for all Junior World Championships finals competitions in Cardrona, and we’ll have links and further info on that closer to the events.
