It has taken Laura Peel (AUS) a while to rediscover the form that led her skis to the Crystal Globe last season. It made sense that Lac-Beauport would be where she finds it.

After all, this was where the Australian was most successful last season, when she took back-to-back wins in a double header.

The 36-year-old earned a win – and her first World Cup podium this season – on 7 January on the same hills, stomping a back full-full-full to top the field with 113.76 points.

She finished ahead of Winter Vinecki (USA), who scored 109.90 points and will leave Quebec also with a win from a day earlier.

Reigning Olympic champion Xu Mengtao (CHN) recovered from a less-than-ideal showing on Tuesday to finish third with 97.02.

Peel said: “It feels really good to be back. I’m really happy with that jump, with my jumping all day. Yesterday wasn’t really my day, and I’m really stoked to come back today with that.”

Remarkably, all three women executed triples in the superfinal.

“I don’t know if we’ve had three full-full-fulls on the podium before,” Peel noted.

On the men’s side, the superfinal was also one that featured tricks of high difficulty levels, with all three podium finishers all earning their place by executing top-quality quint-twisting jumps.

It was a taste of what could come just a month later, as athletes ramp up towards the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games.

Sun Jiaxu (CHN) led the way with a Chinese one-two, with a back full-double full-double full to score a massive 131.58 points.

He finished ahead of teammate Li Tianma (CHN), who delivered a back double full-double full-full to earn 124.95 points. Noé Roth (SUI) attempted the same trick and was third with 122.91 points.

Xu holds on to her yellow bib with the result in Lac-Beauport, staying at the top of the Cup standings with 260 points. Vinecki, meanwhile, has catapulted herself into second place, 43 points behind.

For the men, it is a far closer contest, with just one more stop to go. Li currently leads with 241 points, but teammate Sun is a mere six points behind.

With Lac-Beauport concluded, the aerialists will move swiftly to Lake Placid, where another double header awaits from 11-12 January.
