Chen Meiting and Chen Shuo lead Chinese charge as Aerials Grand Prix continues in Qinhuangdao

China enjoyed a dominant opening day on home soil at the FIS Freestyle Aerials Grand Prix in Qinhuangdao (CHN) on Saturday, 19 September, with Chen Meiting and Chen Shuo taking victories in the women's and men's competitions.

The first of two back-to-back competitions at the National Sports Administration Qinhuangdao Training Base saw the host nation make full use of its home advantage, sweeping the women's podium and claiming two of the three places on the men's podium.

In the women's competition, China demonstrated its remarkable depth throughout the day, placing nine athletes in the 12-woman final and five in the six-woman super final.

Chen Meiting eventually came out on top with an impressive Full-Full-Full, scoring 116.34 points to secure the victory ahead of teammate Kong Fanyu, who also performed a Full-Full-Full to finish second with 113.33 points.

Yang Xinyi completed the all-Chinese podium with a Lay-Full-Full worth 105.93 points, adding another strong result to her second-place finish at the opening Grand Prix competition in Mettmenstetten (SUI) in August.

The men's competition also delivered plenty of high-flying action, with Chen Shuo producing the highest-scoring jump of the day to claim victory on home soil.

The Chinese athlete landed a Full-triple Full-Full, also known as the Hurricane, earning 141.96 points to take the win ahead of Switzerland's Noé Roth.

Roth, who finished runner-up at the opening event in Mettmenstetten, once again demonstrated his consistency with a Hurricane of his own, scoring 138.84 points to secure his second consecutive Grand Prix podium.

Tang Xing (CHN) completed the men's podium with a Full-double Full-Full worth 132.60 points, giving the host nation another reason to celebrate.

Saturday's results also brought changes to the overall Grand Prix standings, with just one competition remaining before the 2026 titles are decided.

In the women's standings, Yang Xinyi moves into the lead with 140 points following her second-place finish in Mettmenstetten and third place in Qinhuangdao.

On the men's side, Noé Roth takes over the top spot with 160 points after finishing second in both competitions so far this summer.

With one final competition still to come, the battle for the overall Grand Prix titles remains open as the athletes prepare for another day of action in Qinhuangdao.

The 2026 FIS Freestyle Aerials Grand Prix concludes on Sunday, 20 September, with the competition following the same programme as Saturday. Women's qualifications begin at 08:45 local time, followed by men's qualifications at 10:40, while finals are scheduled to get underway at 14:00.
