Germany’s Manuel Faißt has taken the victory in the Provisional Competition Round / Qualification taking place on the HS 134 Holmenkollen large hill in Oslo. The 24-year-old jumped 130 metres and in the changing wind conditions of today, this meant a point total of 125.7 p and the win with a 15-second lead on runner-up Mario Seidl from Austria should the PCR have to be used.

Seidl jumped 128.5 metres in slightly worse conditions than Faißt. German teammate Vinzenz Geiger took third with 126.5 metres (117.2 p.; +0:34). Norway’s Simen Tiller surprised with a fantastic jump of 130 metres with bib number one and held the lead for a long time until Faißt, Seidl and Geiger came along but finished fourth with a time disadvantage of 37 seconds at the start.

Out of the two athletes fighting for the overall World Cup, Eric Frenzel had the slightly better start on the jumping hill in Oslo and finished fifth with 119 metres and 114.5 points (+0:45). Johannes Rydzek ended the round on rank eleven with 122 metres (107.5 p.). This would mean a delay of one minute and 13 seconds for the cross-country race.

The Top Ten were completed by Maxime Laheurte on six, Kristjan Ilves on seven, Espen Andersen on eight and fellow Austrians David Pommer and Franz-Josef Rehrl took positions nine and ten. Three athletes did not make the qualification: Miroslav Dvorak (CZE), Pawel Slowiok (POL) and Kail Piho (EST). Jan Schmid (NOR) was disqualified.
