OPA Finals: Double victories for Lamparter and Sieff
Aug 31, 2018·Nordic CombinedAnnika Sieff and Johannes Lamparter made most out of the final weekend of OPA Alpencup action in Chaux-Neuve and both celebrated double victories in their respective events.
On Saturday, Lamparter beat Germany’s Simon Hüttel by 25.1 and David Mach by 44.8 seconds at the finish line after having started the race from the second position behind Hüttel.
Sieff also was second after her competition round of jumping and did not only overtake jumping winner Lena Brocard from France but also kept Slovenia’s Ema Volavsek at bay by 7.1 seconds at the finish line. France’s Emma Treand claimed the last remaining podium spot 40.9 seconds after Sieff.
On Sunday, the ladies’ podium had Sieff on top again as the Italian already won the jumping round and proceeded to ski the fourth-fastest time to the victory. This time, she finished a clear 30.7 seconds ahead of Lena Brocard. Ema Volavsek claimed another podium result with rank three, just 1.2 seconds behind Brocard.
Johannes Lamparter celebrated a clear start - finish victory in the men’s 5 km event. The jumping winner started 51 seconds earlier than runner-up Maximilian Pfordte and managed to keep his advantage during the entire race. At the finish line 49.7 seconds separated Lamparter from Pfordte, who in turn held the charging David Mach off. Mach finally finished 54.9 seconds after Lamparter.

In the overall standings, this means that Johannes Lamparter is taking the honours this year with 638 points, France's Edgar Vallet is second with 410 and Simon Hüttel third with 407. On the ladies' side, the victory goes to Jenny Nowak (GER) with 840 points, Annika Sieff is second with 724 and Lena Prinoth (ITA) takes rank three with 524 points. The Nations Cup Men goes to Austria with 2705 points, for the ladies Italy takes the win with 1767 points.
