In less than 100 days, the FIS World Cup 94th Salpausselkä Lahti Ski Games weekend will bring together the world's best Cross-Country skiers, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined athletes in Lahti in early February, just before the Seefeld 2019 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. The Salpausselkä competitions have traditionally been the meeting point for friends, families with children and skiing enthusiasts.

The competition weekend is full of activities with the Nordic Combined event traditionally organised on Friday moved to Sunday. On Saturday, 9thFebruary the programme includes the Nordic Combined team sprint,  Cross-Country Skiing freestyle sprints, and a traditional evening show with the Ski Jumping team competition.

Sunday, 10th February will feature an individual competition for Ski Jumping, a Nordic Combined individual gundersen, as well as a Cross-Country classic team sprint.

All cross-country races are held on the Karpalo track, so the public has the opportunity to see competitors up close.

“It's great to see that many of those active volunteers in the previous events have announced their desire to continue their positions, and even at both events. New volunteers will also be included in the great event”, says Aino-Kaisa Saarinen, secretary general of Salpausselkä.

The ski maintenance area will move from the Suurmäki field down to Suurhallin. This allows the public to follow the activities of the ski preparation and see the athletes' move to the ski stadium.

Special attention will also be invested in families and children with a “Children's Lights Day” tour of the Karpalo Field. At four different activity points, children can enjoy a day in the snow.

The ticket sales goal of the Salpausselkä Games is 30,000 tickets. In addition to tens of millions of TV viewers, about 400 media and TV representatives, 700 team members from about 30 countries and 1,000 volunteers are expected to attend.
