January is a busy period, for the athletes of the Viessmann FIS Nordic Combined World Cup - and for event organisers as well. After the last stage of Tour de Ski just wrapped up on the Alpe Cermis, the Fiemme Ski World Cup committee and the volunteers will now move to Predazzo for FIS Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping World Cup competitions.

The busy program, starting on the upcoming Thursday contains a multitude of events, including the usual side events. The Provisional Competition Round/Qualification kick starts the weekend on Thursday evening and the first of the two Individual Gundersen competitions is scheduled on Friday, followed by a Team Sprint and a second Individual Gundersen event on Sunday. All events are free of charge.

Next to finding out if the Jarl Riiber, the man to beat this winter, will continue his reign also in Val di Fiemme, the audience can look forward to other, complimentary events: On Saturday 12th January, from 9 a.m., a free coffee & croissant will be offered to all those present at the "Jump in the Breakfast”.

On Saturday evening, it is time to whip out the dancing shoes at the the “Winterfest” at the party tent at the Cross-Country Stadium in Lago di Tesero: the sports atmosphere will be relaxed by combining folklore and fun with dances and typical dishes served to the music of the Dolomiten Bier Band. The last day will be once again opened by the “Jump in the Breakfast" at 9 a.m.

On the sports side, things promise to stay interesting: how long can World Cup leader Jarl Riiber keep up his seemingly easy domination of the field? Riiber’s teammates Espen Andersen, Jørgen Graabak and Jan Schmid, as well as German superstar Eric Frenzel all return from extra training sessions in Seefeld (AUT). On top, Val di Fiemme is known for a wide array of winners: no athlete won more than three events here in total.

Even though the snowy conditions sweeping over Europe’s Alpine regions, did not reach Val di Fiemme's side of the Alps, both the jumping hill and the cross-country track are expertly prepared with artificial snow. The stage is set for a great winter sports weekend with lots of sportive and recreational action. The show will go on in Val di Fiemme.
