Team Austria controlled the Mixed Team event at EYOF 2022. The team, Lisa Marie Hirner, Severin Reiter, Annalena Slamik, Samuel Josef Lev, led the race by 22 seconds after the ski jumping phase and didn’t look back.
“I knew my strengths are at the hill and it was great to do well there”, Slamik said.

The 4 x 3,3 km skiing section was too short for big changes and the leading team kept their place beating the silver medalists, Team Germany by 26 seconds.
“I switched places with Severin because he’s better at the track”, Lev commented.

The team tactic worked and although team Germany had the best skier of the individual event, Tristan Sommerfeldt, Reiter managed to hold him off fairly easily.
“I had a big gap to Tristan and when my teammates were running beside me on the final climb, there was nothing that could’ve stopped me.”

Team Italy went on the skiing track ten seconds ahead of Germany, but already in the first exchange they skied together. Same trend continued and Germany took silver by a comfortable margin of over a minute. Team Finland finished fourth (+1,59) and Team Norway, whose Mariell Östlie Gjendahl was disqualified in the ski jumping section due to suit violation, were last.
