(COC): Win for Skoglund in Lahti (FIN)

Andreas Skoglund is the winner of the first Individual Gundersen competition in Lahti (FIN), which hosted the Nordic Combined Continental Cup for the 12th time.

Germany’s Wendelin Thannheimer was in the lead after the Ski Jumping round on the HS130 with 126.5 meters, collecting a total of 132.1 points. 
He was therefore the first one to go into the 10km cross-country race in the afternoon.

Second place after jumping went to Christian Deuschl from Austria with 125.5 meters (129.5 pts), who started the race 10 seconds after the leader. 
His team mate and current Overall COC leader Terence Weber (125.5 m, 127.9 pts) placed third, 17 seconds behind the leader. 
Norway’s Andreas Skoglund reached the furthest distance of the day with 129 meters (125.6 pts), took the fourth rank, 26 second behind.

With 16 athletes starting the race within the first minute, a tight fight for the podium could be expected.

Thannheimer initially defended his lead, but was caught up by his pursuers as the race progressed.

While Deuschl fell behind, the German athletes in particular showed an impressive performance on the skinny skies, above all David Mach, who had the fastest skiing time with 25:01 min and worked his way up from 14th to 4th place.

In the end, Andreas Skoglund reached the finish line first, securing his 4th COC victory, while Weber and Thannheimer delivered an exciting finish sprint, which Weber (+3.4 sec) won.

His teammate (+4.2 sec) completed the double podium for Germany in third place.
