SGP: Hagen wins Compact premiere in Villach

Ida Marie Hagen is the winner of the first ever Individual Compact race in Villach (AUT) today.

In the new competition format, which is being tested for the first time as part of this year's Summer Grand Prix, all athletes complete one jump and a 5 km race. Unlike the Individual Gundersen, the Individual Compact has fixed starting times, depending on the ranking, not the difference in points is.

Gyda Westvold Hansen was in the lead after the Ski Jumping competition on the HS98. 
In summerly conditions the Norwegian reached 85.5 meters and collected a total of 121.0 points at the HS98. She was therefore be the first one to start into premiere Compact race this afternoon.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Ema Volavsek from Slovenia, who landed at 89.5 meters (113.9 pts) and went into the course 6 seconds after the leader, according to the fixed starting times table.

Nathalie Armbruster (86.5 mts, 107.3 pts) placed third, 12 seconds behind the leader.

Svenja Würth (+40 sec) reached the furthest distance of the day with 96 meters, but crashed after the landing and didn’t participate in the roller ski race.

The 5km roller ski race in the Villacher Alpenarena included a tight fight for the podium. 
After top favorite Hansen dropped out of the race, Volavsek took the lead, before she was caught by Hagen on the last lap. 
The Norwegian secured her first Summer Grand Prix victory in front of the cheering spectators, while Volavsek (+11 sec) secured the second place ahead of Armbruster (+22.6 sec) as third.
