Trondheim 2025 Nordic WSC to Set New Standards with Inclusion of Para Cross-Country Sprint Competition
May 16, 2024·Para Cross-CountryThe organizing committee of the upcoming FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, which will take place in Trondheim from February 26 to March 9, 2025, continues their preparation work for a sports event, which they say will "set new standards."
In addition to equal-distance races for men and women in cross-country skiing, including the 50km (the first-time women will compete in a 50km race at the World Championships), and equal prize money distribution for men and women, Trondheim 2025 will also host a para cross-country sprint competition during the Championships.
This official competition of the 2025 Nordic World Championships will see athletes from the Sitting, Standing, and Vision Impaired categories compete in three stages of sprint (qualifications, semi-finals, and finals) from the same start to the same finish as the team sprint racers. The para cross-country sprint qualifications will take place on Tuesday, March 4, with the semi-finals and finals occurring on the same day and alternating with the team sprint competition on Wednesday, March 5. At the end of this day focused on inclusion, the medal ceremony will also include the para cross-country sprint competition.
