Filip Flisar announces retirement

A true ski cross legend announced his leaving of the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup stage – the World Champion of 2015, Filip Flisar is retiring after 12 years as a professional athlete. The charismatic Slovenian was for sure one to watch and always fun to have around.

The Slovenian has made it into every small final of three Olympic Winter Games: Vancouver 2010 (finished 8th), Sochi 2014 (finished 6th) and PyeongChang 2018 (finished 7th) and proved that he indeed is Mister Ski Cross.

Besides winning the ski cross crystal globe in the 2011/12 season, his biggest achievement was the World Championship title in Kreischberg in 2015.

At the Freestyle and Snowboard World Championships 2017 in Sierra Nevada, he managed to get into the big final, where he was going to defend his title. He did not manage to do so, however finished fourth in that Spanish big final.

In 119 World Cup starts, Flisar managed to grab 7 victories and 16 podiums. Besides his World Championship title and the crystal globe, his career is definitely one to look at.

Flisar has a little daughter and plans on focusing more on his family now after his retirement.
