Lillehammer, the Olympic host town of 1994, is located in the Oppland county, Norway, about 200 km north of Oslo. It has a population of about 27,000 inhabitants and is well-known as a winter sport destination.

The Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena was built for the Games in 1994, and has become a major landmark in Lillehammer. It consists of a HS100 normal hill and a HS138 large hill. The ski jumping stadium has a capacity for 35,000 spectators, of which 7,500 can be seated. Traditionally many teams hold training camps in the Olympic town, the venue sees some 80,000 jumps each winter and 20,000 in the summer.
