Kubacki wins in Lillehammer

Dawid Kubacki won the second Ski Jumping World Cup in Lillehammer (NOR) on Thursday. Kubacki prevailed in the fourth competition of the RAW AIR ahead of Slovenia's Anze Lanisek and Daniel Tschofenig from Austria.

"The conditions were really challenging today, we had to wait quite a long time for our jumps, it's never easy because you get cold and you have to concentrate.
Then you don't know what to expect after the jump, so it's important to focus on what you have to do. And I'm really happy that I managed the competition so well today, I'm very happy about the victory in Lillehammer.

It was Kubacki's 11th World Cup win in overall, 6th this season and it was Kubacki's first success in Lillehammer.
Second place went to Slovenia's Anze Lanisek, 7.4 points behind Kubacki, and third was Daniel Tschofenig of Austria, who had been in the lead after the first run.
Fourth and fifth place went to Markus Eisenbichier of Germany and Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi.

With his success Kubacki shortened his gap to the leader in the overall World Cup, Norway's Halvor Egner Granerud (today 6th place). Kubacki is in second place with 1560 points, Granerud has 1878 points on his account.

But in the RAW AIR overall ranking Granerud could extend his overall lead, because Austrian Stefan Kraft had to be satisfied with 8th place today. Kraft had bad conditions in his second jump and could not keep the third place from the first round. 15.3 points Kraft lost to Granerud, the gap of Kraft, who is now in third place in the RAW AIR overall ranking, to Granerud is 38 points. Anze Lanisek is in second place, 35.5 points behind Granerud.

For the ski jumpers it goes on tonight to Vikersund, the place where the final of RAW AIR will take place next weekend. On Friday a qualification is on the program first. On Saturday and Sunday there will be one competition each, all four rounds and both qualifications will count for the RAW AIR overall ranking.
