Timi Zajc wins final competition, Granerud and Kraft win globes

Local hero Timi Zajc won the last Ski Jumping World Cup this season on Sunday. Zajc prevailed in a dramatic final at ski flying in Planica ahead of his teammate Anze Lanisek and Austria's Stefan Kraft.
Actually, the final competition of the 2022/2023 season deserved two winners, but in the end Timi Zajc was 0.1 points ahead of Anze Lanisek. Exactly 10 points behind Zajc, Stefan Kraft rejoiced over third place in the daily standings in Planica. The third place was enough for Kraft to catch Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud on the home stretch in the fight for the Ski Flying World Cup.
Granerud only reached 13th place in the daily ranking today and so a 10-point lead before the competition turned into a 30-point gap. With 480 points Kraft secured the small crystal globe for the victory in the Ski Flying World Cup.

Kraft has now won the Ski Flying World Cup three times.
Granerud ended up in second place in the Ski Flying World Cup and celebrated extensively for winning the overall World Cup, in the overall World Cup Granerud had already led uncatchably before the final weekend in Planica.

It is the second time after 2020/2021 that the Norwegian can win the overall World Cup. Stefan Kraft and Anze Lanisek finished second and third in the overall World Cup.
Actually, Poland's Dawid Kubacki would have been sure of a place on the podium, but Kubacki decided not to take part in the last competitions of the season due to an illness of his wife and thus slipped to fourth place in the overall ranking.
The strongest team of the winter was the team from Austria with a clear lead. The ski jumpers under the leadership of the former tour winner Andreas Widhölzl convinced throughout the winter by team unity. "It was a super finish and a confirmation for the whole team," said Widhöelzl, whose team scored 7,093 points, 1,462 points ahead of Norway. Behind them, Slovenia Poland and Germany finished 3rd - 5th.
