Pinkelnig wins Planica, Prevc World Cup Overall

Eva Pinkelnig could hardly have ended the season better than with a hill record: With 100.5 and the new longest jump of 103.5 meters, the Austrian won the World Cup final in Planica with 244.9 points. She fought a thrilling duel for the day's victory with Alexandria Loutitt from Canada, who finished on 100 and 101.5 meters and 242.1 points. Third place went to the Slovenian overall World Cup winner Nika Prevc with 96.5 and 97.5 meters and 235.6 points.

"An incredible day, undoubtedly one of the best in my sporting career! To be present at three award ceremonies and to hear the Austrian anthem twice is simply fantastic. Thank you to everyone who made this possible: The entire team, but also the organizers here in Planica," Pinkelnig beamed after her 15th World Cup victory, which means she now shares the most daily victories in the ÖSV team with teammate Sara Marita Kramer.

Sara Takanashi finished fourth and was the best Japanese athlete. Team colleague Yuki Ito also finished in the top ten in eighth place but should still lose out in the battle for third place in the overall World Cup. With Thea Minyan Bjoerseth, who finished fifth as she did at last year's Nordic World Ski Championships, and Heidi Dyhre Traaserud, who achieved her best World Cup result in ninth place, the two Norwegians also made it into the top ten. They were joined by the Austrian trio of Jacqueline Seifriedsberger, Lisa Eder and Sara Marita Kramer in sixth, seventh and tenth place respectively.

Freitag finished 15th, but she was the only DSV jumper in the top 20. Katharina Schmid did not make it past 21st place and was therefore only one place ahead of Agnes Reisch. Juliane Seyfarth came 24th, while Anna Rupprecht finished tied on points with Katra Komar from Slovenia in 28th place.

With the official end of the season, Nika Prevc (1454 points) is now officially the overall World Cup winner. Eva Pinkelnig (1305) took second place, while Alexandria Loutitt (1030) won the duel for third place against Yuki Ito (1018) by twelve points.

Austria (3891 points) is once again at the top of the nation rankings, with second and third place going to Slovenia (3442) and Japan (2386).
