As the countdown begins for the 2024/25 FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup season, excitement is building following a successful site inspection by FIS Snowboard Race Director Uwe Beier. The inspection included preparation meetings at China’s new venues in Mylin and Yanqing, as well as a key discussion with the Chinese Ski Federation in Beijing.

The 2024/25 season will introduce snowboard enthusiasts to three new locations on the World Cup tour, with two of these venues in China. The season will kick off with back-to-back double events in these new locations. Mylin, Inner Mongolia, will host Parallel Giant Slalom (PGS) and Parallel Slalom (PSL) competitions from November 30 to December 1, 2024. The action will then move to Yanqing the following week, with both PGS and PSL events scheduled for December 7-8, 2024.

Yanqing, located just an hour from Beijing, gained international prominence as the host of the alpine skiing events during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. The venue also hosted bobsleigh, skeleton, and luge events, showcasing its versatility and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The slope in Yanqing offers an ideal pitch for snowboard alpine events and benefits from the extensive upgrades made for the Olympics, including excellent lift connections and experienced staff.

Uwe Beier expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming events: “Returning to China for the first time since the Olympics is incredibly exciting. The progress and enthusiasm for snowboarding in China have been remarkable, and I am thrilled to see these new venues take center stage in the World Cup season.”

Mylin, situated in Inner Mongolia, will make its debut on the World Cup circuit. Known for hosting Asian Cup races, Mylin’s inclusion in the World Cup calendar marks a significant step in the development of winter sports in the region. The venue has been praised for its early season slope conditions, which are expected to attract numerous teams looking to capitalize on the excellent training opportunities before the season officially begins.

With these exciting new venues set to host the opening events of the season, the 2024/25 FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup is poised to deliver thrilling competitions and showcase China’s growing presence in the global snowboard community. Fans and athletes alike are eagerly anticipating the start of the season in these newly minted World Cup locations.
