While we’ve got another big announcement set to drop next week, today we’re checking in with the first new event that has been announced so far for the 2021/22 season, as today marks six weeks to go before the Big Air Chur World Cup and music festival hits the capital of the .

The musical acts set to perform in Chur from October 22-23 were announced in August, and now the preliminary entry lists for both World Cup events are locked in as well. For the both freeski and snowboard competitions those entry lists are absolutely stacked, as one would expect for the first contest of an all-important Olympic season.

On the freeski women’s side of things, you can look forward to seeing the likes of halfpipe and slopestyle World Champion Ailing Eileen Gu (CHN), big air World Champion Anastasia Tatalina (RUS), double 2020/21 crystal globe winner Tess Ledeux, Kelly Sildaru (EST), Maggie Voisin (USA) and the strong host Swiss squad lead by Guilia Tanno, amongst many others.

As for freeski men, how about 2020/21 big air world champion Oliver Magnusson (SWE) and slopestyle world champ and 2x crystal globe winner Colby Stevenson (USA) leading a group that will include everyone from Birk Ruud (NOR) to Matej Svancer (AUT), Edouard Therriault (CAN) to Henrik Harlaut (SWE), Elias Syrja (FIN) to Antoine Adellise (FRA), as well as Kim Gubser and the rest of the Swiss heavies (minus Andri Ragettli, who continues to recover from injury).

Snowboard women? Take a deep breath, as 2021 big air World Champion Laurie Blouin (CAN), 2021 slopestyle and overall crystal globe winner Anna Gasser (AUT), Jamie Anderson (USA), Zoi Sadowski Synnott (NZL), Kokomo Murase (JPN), Tess Coady (AUS), Enni Rukijarvi (FIN), Klaudia Medlova (SVK) and many, many more will be getting up to get down in der Schwieß.

And, finally, the SB men, where slopestyle world champs gold medallist and 2x crystal globe winner Markus Kleveland will lead a heavy Norwegian contingent that also features the likes of Staale Sandbech and Mons Roisland.

With 2021 big air World Champion Mark McMorris leading the a Canadian squad that also features Max Parrot and Sebastien Toutant, the USA fielding Red Gerard, Dusty Henricksen, and Chris Corning, Takeru Otsuka and Hiroake Kunitake representing Japan, and riders like Sven Thorgren (SWE), Leon Vockensperger (GER), Rene Rinnekangas (FIN) all also sure to be on hand, the men’s SB competition will be a fitting ender to the weekend there in Chur.

And then, on top of all that, there’s the music. Curated by First Event AG (Swiss subsidiary of Live Nation, the worldwide market leader in music festivals), the Big Air Chur Festival will be headlined by a pair of German rappers, with Apache 207 taking top billing on Friday evening, and Sido shutting down the main stage on Saturday.

Throw in the likes of Breitbbild, Jan Delay and others, as well as DJs taking the party way on into the early morning, and this is going to be a season kickoff the likes of which we haven’t seen before.

Only 1.5 months/six weeks/42 days left to go...it's time to get fired up for 2021/22!
