The 2024/25 FIS Snowboard Park & Pipe season gets underway in just one week, when men’s qualifications get the ball rolling at the Cardrona slopestyle World Cup in New Zealand on Friday, 30 August. With women’s qualifications and men’s semifinals set to go down on Saturday, 31 August, and finals for both the women and men slated for Sunday, 01 September, it’s shaping up to be an electric early start to a huge 2024/25 campaign.

Next weekend’s competition marks the first time FIS Snowboard has been on the scene for World Cup competition in New Zealand since the pre-pandemic 2019/20 season, and we’re thrilled to return to the Southern Alps and one of the premier freestyle venues anywhere in the southern hemisphere after such a lengthy hiatus.

The FIS Park & Pipe World Cup’s return to Cardrona after a half-decade away will also see our competitions return to the Winter Games NZ programme, with the snowboard slopestyle competition next week and the freeski halfpipe World Cup the following weekend included in the schedule of the southern hemisphere’s largest winter sports event.

While it’s been five years since Cardrona last saw World Cup action, the resort, along with Snowsports NZ, has kept busy in recent years hosting Australia New Zealand Cup (ANC) competitions, as well as the 2023 Junior World Championships in slopestyle and big air.

In the coming days you can expect to see our full 2024/25 slopestyle World Cup season preview, as well as a more in-depth event preview for the Cardrona competition itself, so stay tuned here and to our social channels for more info.

It may still be summer up north, but down south the snow is flying and the kickoff of the 2024/25 Park & Pipe season is just around the corner. Buckle up and get ready for a wild one!
