Ingvild Flugstad Østberg wins crystal overall World Cup globe

Today's 10km and 15km F pursuit races on the Plaines d'Abraham marked the end of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup season 2018/19. Despite having Therese Johaug (NOR) and Alexander Bolshunov (RUS) already set as distance World Cup winners, the fight for the overall World Cup titles were still open.

First things first. Swedish superstar Stina Nilsson really warmed up perfectly on the course in Québec city. Winning the sprint on Friday gave her wings to repeat her success on Saturday's 10km mass start race. On today's final 10km race of the season, she ensured to keep her head start of 0.33 seconds to Ingvild Flugstad Østberg. The final result ended with Nilsson in the 1st place, followed by Therese Johaug (+12.9) and Ingvild Flugstad Østberg (+15.1).

Dominating the distance World Cup season, Therese Johaug already ensured herself the distance World Cup title and advances in the final overall World Cup ranking to the 3rd position.

Ingvild Flugstad Østberg could not believe what she achieved. In the footsteps of Marit Bjørgen and Therese Johaug, the Norwegian winner of this year's Tour de Ski went all in and was rewarded with the big overall World Cup crystal globe. In the distance World Cup ranking, she follows Johaug 139 points behind.

Third in the scene was Russian Natalia Nepryaeva who can look back on a strong season with stable results which ensured her the third rank in the distance World Cup (264 points behind Johaug). In the overall World Cup, Nepryaeva gets rewarded with the silver medal for her second rank.
